On her 37th birthday, celebrated actor Huma Qureshi passionately advocates for a transformative shift in the film industry’s perception of age, particularly when it comes to female artists. Firmly rejecting the practice of ageism, she urges people in showbiz to view women beyond a mere “shelf life,” emphasizing that age is nothing more than a number. According to Qureshi, actresses face ageism more than their male counterparts, a deeply sexist perspective that undermines the growth and talent of women in the industry. Instead, she believes that artists improve and evolve with each passing year, becoming better versions of themselves, and that this growth should be celebrated and acknowledged.

Choosing a laid-back and introspective approach on her special day, Qureshi focuses on personal growth. She shares that one of the most significant lessons she has learned with age is to be patient and trust in life’s plans, recognizing that sometimes the best things are yet to come. Throughout the years, she has noticed substantial changes within herself as a person, including her ideas and perspectives, all of which she hopes continue to evolve positively. The actor highlights her dedication to becoming a more fearless performer and a kinder, more patient individual, choosing to react thoughtfully rather than impulsively.

Maintaining a healthy work-life balance, Qureshi treats her profession as a job, adhering to a nine-to-five work schedule. On her birthday, she prefers taking time off to relax, indulge in activities she loves, and surround herself with loved ones. Guarding her personal space and time, she intentionally avoids working on special occasions like birthdays and New Year’s, cherishing these moments for self-pampering and quality time with family and friends.

Looking ahead, the actor is excited to dive back into the world of “Maharani,” commencing shooting for its highly anticipated third season just three days after her birthday. Anticipating even more significant twists and turns, and exceptional performances, she is eager to return to the streets of Bhopal, where the journey of “Maharani” began.

Huma Qureshi’s birthday celebration is not only a time for joy but also a profound reflection on the industry’s ageism issue, pushing for a more inclusive and appreciative culture that embraces the talent and growth of women in film.
