The Santosh Trophy, also referred to as the Hero Senior Men’s National Football Championship is organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), India’s regulatory body of football. The Santosh Trophy was regarded as the country’s most prestigious national honor prior to the advent of India’s first national club tournament, the National Football League, in the year 1996.

The states of the country, as well as some government organizations, compete in the Santosh Trophy. This is played yearly since 1941. Bengal became the first winner of the tournament, which took place in 1941. The trophy bears the name of the great Maharaja Sir Manmatha Nath Roy Chowdhary of Santosh, now situated in Bangladesh.

The tournament’s format has changed over the years. The teams are now grouped into eight groups, each with three or four teams. The eight group winners are then picked, along with four seeded teams who do not have to go through the qualifying round, and these twelve teams are placed into three groups of three. This is the quarter-final round, followed by the semi-final and final.

CEM of Bodoland Territorial Region Shri Pramod Boro initiated the first inter-Sixth Scheduled Councils Premier Football League-2022 (ISPL-2022) on October 9th at various playgrounds in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) districts. The authorities of the Bodoland Territorial Area (BTR) conducted the program to foster better collaboration and mutual trust and provide a forum for young athletes from India’s northeastern area.

It consists of five districts located on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River, below the foothills of Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh. It is governed by an elected council known as the Bodoland Territorial Council, which was established under the provisions of a peace treaty agreed upon in February 2003, and its autonomy was extended by an agreement reached in January 2020.

Shri Pramod Boro is an Indian politician who has been the president of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) since February 25, 2020, and after the council election, he took charge as a Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Area, an overseas territory in Assam. On the same day, he declared Kokrajhar the “City of Peace”.

Kokrajhar is one of Assam’s 27 districts on the north side of the Brahmaputra River. It reaches the international border with Bhutan’s Province. From increased empathy to improved critical thinking, tabletop board games play a vital role in our neurological and emotional development.

Some of my most cherished memories are of playing board games with friends and family. The mere mention of “pass go, collect Rs.200” brings back memories of building hotels and charging my parents rent when they land on my property. It was a nice change of pace from reality! Had I known that there were real benefits to playing board games, I might have honed my skills a bit more. Now that I’m aware, you’ll see me at whatever game night I can find!

There are so many distractions in the world nowadays, and board games help us live in the moment. Instead of doing something that leaves you forgetting some of your most valuable skills, you should consider something a little more challenging, like a board game. With some practice, you can expect better literacy, numeracy, and socialization, to name just a few of the many benefits.

Who knew games could make you smarter?

When you play board games, you stimulate areas of your brain that help you form memories and carry out different thought processes. Board games require critical thinking and help you practice things like decision-making, problem-solving, and strategic planning. Just like you exercise your other muscles to stay in shape, your brain needs to be exercised in order for you to develop and learn.

When you try a new board game, you get exposed to a new set of rules in a new context. You have a chance to gain a new perspective and learn aspects of the game that you can use in real life. Whether your game teaches an old cultural story from centuries ago or focuses on modern geography, there’s always an opportunity to learn something new.

Learning life lessons with tabletop board games

You might not think about learning important life lessons when you’re sitting down to play a game with friends or family, but they exist. If you want to win, you’ll need to be patient and set goals for yourself. I know that I learned a lot about discipline when I look back at the games I played growing up. Even if the game is simple, you’ll always be thinking about the next step, which is something you need to practice in everyday life to find success.

All about empathy

When you learn new things and gain a new perspective, it leads to a greater sense of empathy and understanding. Even if the game itself has nothing to do with a specific person’s background, board games teach a certain amount of patience that we can take into our daily life. When you play board games with others you also have a chance to understand someone else’s behavior in a new way. I don’t know about you, but I think we can all benefit from that!

Connect with your community

Humans are social by nature and having a sense of community is an important part of our survival. Most board games come with a whole community of people interested in them, some fans being more serious than others. Luckily, digital technology makes it easy to find people with similar interests to ours, so even if your close friends and family don’t feel like playing at the same moment as you do, there’s more than likely a forum online discussing topics you’d be interested in.

When you play board games with friends you get to have a sense of inclusion. You are given a purpose for that period of time and don’t have to worry about filling in any blanks or awkward silences. All you need to worry about is how you’re going to play. Not only does this make it easier to focus, but for those who are usually shy, socializing with some sort of structure can give you the confidence you didn’t know you had.

Mind your mental health

Now more than ever, people are taking their mental health more seriously. Sometimes life feels like it’s moving too fast and all we really need to do is slow down for a moment. Tabletop board games are one of my favorite ways to decompress. It’s a perfect moment to spend with friends and family and share a laugh. Just the simple act of laughter and enjoyment will lower your stress levels. Interacting with loved ones in a meaningful way will also improve your relationships and lead to better mental health.

Level up your skills

Depending on the specific game, you’ll get to work on math and language skills. Many games depend on calendars, points, or storytelling. It’s most common that board games have some type of combination of math and language involved in the play. If you have any little ones at home, board games are a great way to introduce new concepts in a fun and engaging way. You’ll be able to harness their attention much easier if there is competition and reward involved.

What is Shastranga?

Aside from being the world’s first modern Indian board game, Shahstranga combines astrology and astronomy, representing over 7500 years of star sequence. It quickly brings the thrill of traveling the night sky to your living room. This highly coveted board game is perfect for a collector with taste. Much like the virtues listed above, Shastranga offers discipline and regimen to regular life. Players will hear memorable stories and learn lessons to last a lifetime. https://youtu.be/D895uqovIZU

While the ideal number of participants is four, you can play this strategy game with two to six players. Full of realistic challenges, this board of 35 playing squares, 27 stars, and 8 temples is sure to take you to another world—right from where you’re sitting.

This beautifully constructed game is highly coveted in India and is a true representation of thoughtful craftsmanship, planning, and tradition. You’ll learn how to survive in the face of adversity and absorb life lessons that you’ll want to pass on for a lifetime.

The Bottom Line

At the end of the day, tabletop board games should be part of every person’s regular routine. Whether you play something once a month or a few times a week, board games help you exercise parts of your brain that you might otherwise not utilize. In today’s technology-obsessed world, it’s important to take time away from our devices and engage in something different, even if it’s for a short time.

Today, as we commemorate the birth of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, India’s first President, and a very eminent lawyer, what better way to bring another inspirational journey of a criminal lawyer, GM Rao, for our Hyderabad edition?

Shikha Duggal

It was an epiphany to hear that a world-renowned criminal lawyer from Hyderabad is on the path of spotless chastity. The good name is G.M. Rao, an advocate who is a high-profile individual today in the city because of his landmark judgments in legal matters across India. He grabbed the best of all penances and became a celibate at the age of 33; that hooked us!

Cut to a man in his monk attire in the metropolis city, who attracts many stares in the court in his black robe fighting against injustice. What matters for this pakka Hyderabadi is that he continues to be the charismatic personality that he is, and serves society, whether through his incredible educational qualifications or his current instinct of giving back to society. On a contrary note, how did it all begin?

“My forefathers were from Hyderabad — a legacy of 300 years. My father worked for Panchayath Raj schools in Andhra Pradesh. After my basic education, I entered a law college with a determination to be one of the top lawyers in India because I felt lawyers had the opportunity to make a real difference and gain respect! I am taking you back to 1996 when senior lawyers never used to pay us; there was no stipend. And to my luck, I was the eldest son, so I organically had the responsibility of maintaining a livelihood. I immediately moved to Singapore to do cyberlaw! “I was observing how senior lawyers were using the tactics to their bet advantage there; it was a learning experience for me,” he said.

When he returned to India, he started taking on cases from venture capitalists. And the task was to make them win the case in the allotted time frame of ten minutes, and he did it! At the same time, being in the field surrounded by so much practicality, he still had a philosophical approach of his own, which made him stand out amongst other lawyers in the country. There came a ghastly decision in his life, “I moved to the Himalayas. I began studying Upanishads, sutras, jeevan mukti, the Bhagavad-gita, moksha, and a plethora of other life philosophies. I did not wait for tomorrow to renounce the world and become a monk. Yet, I came back to Hyderabad to fulfill my responsibilities, which were to continue providing justice to the needy.”

Apart from serving the country with legal capabilities, he also goes to the Hyderabadi slums and hears out the problems. “I gifted a few of them sewing machines so that they could earn a better livelihood. I donated bicycles to young girls in rural areas so that they can peddle their way to education. I didn’t like the way people fight in our slums just to fulfill their egos. I have NRI clients too, so I get to see many diasporas of life as a lawyer. When a couple comes to me to file for divorce, it pinches me. Yes, it’s truly the opposite of what I do as an advocate, but I’m here to serve humanity too. Instead of convincing one of them to really file for divorce, I counsel them in a spiritual manner, and they do get hell-bent on giving themselves a second chance. I don’t want to obtain money by separating two lives!” he added.

G.M. Rao’s success and his contribution to society brought him to the attention of the Academy of Universal Global Peace too, and he was awarded the degree of “Doctor of Letters!” Born in the old city and then moving to Banjara Hills for a reason, he explained the scenario: “It’s difficult for the residents of the old city to acquire a high stature in society because that area is full of issues. According to psychology, your environment influences your growth, and my parents didn’t want those meaningless chit-chatters to affect me, so they relocated to Banjara Hills instead. Only after coming outside of my former colony did I start to transform like a blossoming flower for the betterment of Hyderabad.”

Sitting in a prestigious position and knowing the ins and outs of the old city, he shares his insights about whether hate crime will seep into our city too or not. He said, “During the 1980s, I saw bloodshed happening right before my eyes in the old city. It was the Ayodhya dispute! Year by year, curfews were being imposed. Although I haven’t totally forgotten where I was born, I still go meet my childhood buddies there, and they are highly educated regardless of where they stay. Fifteen years ago, in every nook and cranny, the only purpose of old city residents was to make some kind of alcohol, but today the scenario has changed. There are independent livelihoods going on there.

I have discussed this matter with my friends over there too, and they are very well aware that it’s a political drama and nothing else. Even today, Muslims and Hindus have a bonding in the old city that nobody can break.”

His perspective on the district court in comparison to the Supreme Court of India and law enforcement agencies around the world—what differences he has noticed—was intriguing. For example, “Laws abroad are way too stringent; nobody can escape even for a second! There are rarely any trials to delay the case; if found guilty then and there, the case is closed with the required punishment because they are developed countries. Case in point:

Singapore, Australia, and America. I cannot pin the Telangana High Court as an example on behalf of the whole country because the crux lies in our constitution, in the parliament. They have to bring the new changes so that district courts can follow up. There’s a very disturbing law in our country that is impossible to misuse abroad, and that is the peculiar laws in favour of women. As an advocate myself, I can second the opinion that few of the sections are duly biassed against women.”

So it’s understandable that when his loved ones see him dressed as a monk, they have a variety of reactions. Nevertheless, it doesn’t get to him because, for others, it may be a bygone concept, but to him, he’s attaining liberation in his own way. “We are not allowed to discuss our monk life other than with intellectuals; for example, at the moment it is in the media, and the media can understand what it’s like to be a monk in today’s times,” he told us. Others regard it as surreal fiction! “I don’t want to be foolish and go on and on about my personal liberation experience, which means a lot to me, nor do I owe an explanation to anyone else. Looking at my appearance, they get an idea, though.

To put it simply for others, I am following a Vedantic approach; I cannot begin preaching about karma on the steps of our Telangana High Court (he laughs). That’s about it,” he concluded.

Success is what that brings happiness to the face of the people in the world around, but people hardly notice the challenges, sacrifices and hardship that individual had done. GNIOT Institute of Management Studies is happy to be able to hit the mark at the international placement through our star performer Mr. Tipu Saikia who grabbed the offer at Property Pistol, for international location in Middle East at a package of 23.31LPA. One of the highest packages in the management stream in the region.

It’s a proud moment for the institute and faculty as we are able to grab such placement in the very initial years of its journey from inception. It has set the mark for the industry to look at the management education with a new perspective. GIMS is able to mark such opportunity through a systematic effort that is envisioned in its motto to deliver excellence through education. The institute effort towards making students corporate ready through a series of efforts that it makes is really paying now.

GIMS is focused to deliver quality by aligning the delivery of the content that is primarily industry focused, as we had offered PGDM 4.0 which is in sync with the industry 4.0. These millennial managers are nurtured and mentored in a way to be able to follow the success pathways that seems tough initially, but with the effort of the dedicated and experienced faculty and enriched corporate resource team is making the impossible possible for them. The infrastructure and the support system that GIMS has, helps us to deliver the quality as expected by the industry. Corporate Resource Center (CRC) and faculty are very dedicated towards one to one mentoring of students for their summer and final placements.

The strong foundation that leadership at GIMS had laid is giving the right impetus for all stakeholders of GIMS to follow is – To become a widely acclaimed management school contributing towards management education for developing business leaders having functional knowledge of all the domains of management. We are contented to be able to deliver the same as we follow it religiously not only in words but in action to.

About CRT & the Agreement

CRT is a Melbourne based innovative hydrogen technology company specialising in state-of-the-art electrolysers. CRT’s PEM and AEL electrolyser stack designs are simple, scalable and tailored for mass production with reduced time and cost of machining. CRT has also developed a proprietary low-cost electrode fabrication process for catalyst-coated substrates, which is suitable for manufacturing at scale with established industrial processes.

CRT is also focusing on next generation AEM and its proprietary C-Cell electrolysers. For its AEM technology, CRT has designed new iridium-free catalysts suitable for volume productions to meet future demands. CRT has already built a prototype AEM stack and blueprinting mass production.

CRT’s “C-Cell” is an early-stage yet ground-breaking approach with the potential to improve the efficiency of alkaline water electrolysis. Using a combination of powdered metallurgy techniques and catalyst coating methods, the C-Cell design eliminates the need for intricate machining.

CRT plans to establish a pilot manufacturing plant in early 2024 for AEM electrolyser production.
