Patna High Court Senior Advocate Awadh Bihari Ojha Passes Away

Patna: Senior Advocate Awadh Bihari Ojha of the Patna High Court passed away on March 5, 2026, in Gurgaon in the presence of his wife and children. He was 85.

A respected name in the legal fraternity, Ojha had a distinguished career spanning nearly six decades and was known for his work in constitutional, civil and criminal law. He was designated Senior Advocate by the Patna High Court in 2011 and also served as empanelled counsel for several state and central government institutions, besides appearing for major private companies.

A Full Court reference was held on March 9, 2026, to remember and pay homage to him. The Chief Justice of the Patna High Court observed, “Late Awadh Bihari Ojha was a towering personality in the legal fraternity. For nearly six decades, his voice resonated through these hallowed halls with intellectual grace and unwavering dignity. An institution is only as strong as the people who build it day by day, brick by brick. Late Awadh Bihari Ojha was undoubtedly one of the institution’s foundational builders. His life was a testament to the first principles of justice.”

Beyond the legal profession, Ojha was also known for his interest in literature, philosophy and religion. He wrote essays, articles and books, including a work on Hindu law, and had a deep appreciation for English, Hindi, Sanskrit and Bhojpuri literature.

His death marks the passing of a lawyer, scholar and public-minded individual whose contributions extended well beyond the courtroom.

For the city’s music lovers, the Annapurna Devi Foundation presented a three day classical music festival on 6th, 7th and 8th March, 2026 at G.D. Birla Sabhagar,. Annapurna Devi was a female Surbahar artist. Daughter of Baba Alauddin Khan, sister of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, she was a Maihar Gharana artist. Her notable students include Pandit Nikhil Banerjee, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ashish Khan, Dakshina Mohan Tagore, Basant Kabra, Sudhir Phadke, Nityanand Haldipur, among others. Although born into a Muslim family, she was known to all by the name “Annapurna” given to her by Maharaja Brijnath Singh of Maihar State.

On the first day, Pandit Milind Raikar (violin), Vidushi Subhra Guha (vocals), on the second day Pandit Shantanu Bhattacharyya (vocals), Pandit Basant Kabra (sarod), on the third day Pandit Rajendra Prasanna and Ritesh Prasanna (flute), Vidushi Ashwini Bhide Deshpande (vocals) – filled the conference with souful l melody.

And on March 9, 2026, the “Special Cover” was released by the India Post on the birth centenary of Annapurna Devi, in the presence of distinguished guests at GPO, Kolkata. This special honor by the India Post just a day after International Women’s Day, added another dimension to this centenary celebration.

नई दिल्ली। तिलक नगर स्थित योगेश्वर देवीदयाल महामंदिर में 108 कुंड योग महायज्ञ एवं 106वां शुभ जन्मोत्सव अत्यंत भक्ति, श्रद्धा और आध्यात्मिक ऊर्जा के दिव्य वातावरण में सम्पन्न हुआ। इस पावन अवसर पर हरियाणा, दिल्ली, राजस्थान, पंजाब, उत्तराखंड सहित देश के विभिन्न प्रांतों से बड़ी संख्या में श्रद्धालु, साधक एवं अनुयायी उपस्थित होकर गुरुकृपा का लाभ प्राप्त करने पहुँचे।

Founded in 2022 by photographers Jai Thakur and Garima Agarwal, the initiative was born from a shared realization, India’s photography ecosystem lacked structured pathways for emerging artists to connect with experienced professionals. In an in-depth interview for Abir Pothi, they described how the idea for Astitva Photo emerged from conversations about this gap, one they personally experienced early in their creative journeys.
