Project Sahayata was launched in March 2023 by high schoolers Samaira Mohunta, Kavin Sharma, Shiv Chauhan, Nitya Rathi, Miheeka Bagla, and Vaasavi Daga with the aim of uplifting the infrastructure and amenities available in under-resourced schools in Gurugram under NGO Parvaah.

The inaugural phase of Project Sahayata witnessed the installation of 10 water purifiers and 10 cold water dispensers, not only in the adopted S. P. Public School but also across neighbouring schools. At the launch event, graced by the presence of Justice Alok Jain, Hon’ble Judge of Punjab & Haryana High Court, as the Chief Guest, and esteemed personalities like Sh. Virendra Vij (IPS), DCP East Gurgaon, and Ms. Benu Malhotra, Founder and Trustee of Parvaah, the initiative’s profound impact was unveiled.

“We will improve the hygiene and basic sanitation in the identified schools and Project Sahayata will bring in the much-needed upliftment. We will also work closely with the teachers to promote sports, art and crafts and create an environment to make school more enjoyable and fun for these students,” Samaira Mohunta, President, Parvaah said.

In July, Project Sahayata’s second campaign took flight, aligning with the sanitation objectives of UN SDG Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. By utilizing funds generated from the sale of cards and envelopes crafted by the children during their summer break, the initiative successfully established a hygienic toilet and hand-washing station at S.P. Public School, Gurugram.

This 76th Independence Day, Project Sahayata adopted the community ground for the students of S. P Public School and a few other students of schools in the vicinity. After levelling the ground, they orchestrated a vibrant tree plantation initiative, breathing life into the landscape with 60 new trees. Each sapling signifies their commitment to cultivating a greener future for these children, who will soon have a playground that they can truly call their own.

“Having access to an accessible and safe playground to move, exercise, and play is a vital component to ensuring healthy lives for younger children. That is what our next campaign is going to be about,” said Samaira Mohunta, President of Parvaah.

Project Sahayata, launched by determined high schoolers in March 2023, has ignited a transformative journey in Gurugram’s under-resourced S. P. Public School. From enhancing basic amenities and promoting hygiene to installing vital facilities, their actions mirror a commitment to education and holistic development. Soon, these children will revel in a playground truly their own, surrounded by the living testament of their brighter tomorrow. With each upcoming initiative, Project Sahayata will paint a brighter and greener future for these children, encapsulating the power of youth-driven change.

Project Tiger, initiated in 1973, has been instrumental in safeguarding the endangered tiger population in India. The project, launched by the Government of India in collaboration with various stakeholders, has made significant strides in tiger conservation over the years. However, the challenges faced by tiger populations continue to persist, necessitating the urgent need for additional funding and innovative approaches to ensure their survival.

Tigers play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity. Their presence in the wild indicates the health and robustness of our ecosystems. Unfortunately, tiger populations face numerous threats such as habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflicts. To address these challenges effectively, it is imperative to secure sustainable and adequate funding for tiger conservation initiatives.

To this end, the Mobius Foundation had organised a panel discussion “Tiger Talk: A Roaring Dialogue on Tiger Conservation” 04th August, Friday, 6:00 PM -8:00 PM: Bikaner House, New Delhi, to delve into innovative ideas for financing tiger conservation and emphasize the critical need for such solutions. Esteemed experts from various fields, including conservationists, financial experts, and policymakers gathered to exchange insights, share success stories, and brainstormed creative financing mechanisms to support tiger conservation efforts. Mr. Pradip Burman, Chairman of the Mobius Foundation, delivered the introductory remarks to the distinguished guests and spoke of the importance of viewing tiger landscapes as an incredible array of biodiversity.

Chief Guest at the event was Shri. M K Ranjitsinh, IAS (Retd) Former Addl. Secretary MoEF&CC, Author, Conservationist, Prime Architect of the Wildlife (Protection) Act. He said “If given the chance, animals have the incredible ability to make a comeback. Providing them with a suitable environment is crucial to their survival and prosperity.”

“To preserve the tiger population, we must take action. Poaching poses the biggest threat to these majestic animals as their skin and body parts are in high demand on the global market. The second threat is the loss of their natural habitat due to urban development and lifestyle changes.”Dr. S.P Yadav, ADG Forest (Project Tiger) & Member Secretary (National Tiger Conservation Authority), MoEF&CC

Dr. Sejal Worah, Program Director, WWF India emphasized, “In order for the conversation with tigers to continue and infrastructure development to occur simultaneously, we need to seek for strategies to address the conflict between humans and tigers in the future. The only answer is the intelligent infrastructure that supports ecosystem balance.”

Shri. Praveen Garg, President of Mobius Foundation and Former Special Secretary in MOEF&CC, advocated for and developed the concept of “TIGER BONDS,” or the use of bond markets to supplement fund flows to protected areas. The so-called ‘Tiger Bonds’ can be used to raise conservation funds, which can be obtained through government-issued green bonds or private sector participation, and then handed to India’s national parks, supporting the state in animal protection.

The event acted as a forum for collaboration and the exploration of potential collaborations among conservation organisations, financial institutions, and governmental entities. Mobius Foundation intended to build synergy and establish real methods to successfully mobilise funding for tiger conservation by bringing together diverse stakeholders.

Ms. Jessica Gill, Sr. Research Associate, Mobius Foundation, concluded the presentation with a ‘Vote of Thanks’ and emphasised the importance of improved transboundary collaboration for tiger conservation as well as stiffer penalties for poaching and illicit wildlife trade.

Bharti Airtel has taken a major leap in the world of internet connectivity by introducing Xstream AirFiber, a groundbreaking fixed wireless access (FWA) offering powered by 5G technology. This innovative solution is now available in Delhi and Mumbai, making it India’s first 5G wireless Wi-Fi solution. With internet connectivity being a crucial aspect of modern life, Xstream AirFiber aims to address the last-mile connectivity challenges and provide lightning-fast speeds of up to 100Mbps through a wireless connection.

The heart of Xstream AirFiber is a user-friendly, standalone plug-and-play device that allows for wider network coverage and lower latency, all thanks to the Wi-Fi 6 standard. This means that up to 64 devices can simultaneously access high-speed internet without any compromise in performance. What’s even more impressive is that all Xstream AirFiber hardware is manufactured within India, aligning with the country’s Make in India initiative.

Airtel recognizes the soaring demand for Wi-Fi connectivity at home over the past few years. With Xstream AirFiber, the company aims to bridge the gap and provide Wi-Fi-like speeds even in areas without a physical fiber network infrastructure. While currently available in Delhi and Mumbai, Airtel plans to expand its coverage nationwide in the near future.

As for the pricing details, customers can subscribe to Airtel Xstream AirFiber for Rs 799 per month or opt for a six-month plan at Rs 4,435 (including a 7.5 percent discount) with an additional Rs 2,500 payment as a security deposit for the hardware component. While Airtel is the first to launch a 5G-based fixed wireless access service officially, Jio also announced its version called Jio AirFiber a few months ago, claiming to offer Gigabit speed internet access using a 5G network. However, specific pricing and the official launch date for Jio AirFiber have yet to be disclosed.

It’s worth noting that both Airtel and Jio currently offer unlimited 5G network access to their subscribers on specific recharge plans. Customers can explore popular prepaid recharge plans from Airtel and Jio that offer unlimited 5G access across the country.

With Xstream AirFiber revolutionizing the internet landscape in Delhi and Mumbai, the race for enhanced connectivity is only getting started, promising a brighter digital future for all of India.

Amid ongoing debt covenant discussions with hedge fund Davidson Kempner Capital Management, Aakash Educational Services Ltd (AESL) has taken significant steps to reconstitute its board. Reports indicate that the edtech startup, backed by Byju’s, encountered difficulties in meeting certain loan agreement covenants, leading to Davidson Kempner’s decision to withhold disbursement of a $250 million loan that was initially extended to AESL. As a means to bolster the board’s strength and governance, Byju’s will be nominating three of its representatives from Think and Learn to the board, alongside two independent directors. It is anticipated that the newly formed board will take charge within the next two weeks. Additionally, there are indications that the board may seek new auditors, and Byju Raveendran, the founder of Byju’s, will be the sole executive representative from the parent company on the AESL board.

In the midst of these developments, tensions have arisen as Think & Learn (Byju’s parent company) sent a notice to the founders of AESL expressing their reluctance to proceed with a previously agreed share swap that was part of the acquisition deal in 2021. At that time, Byju’s acquired AESL, which operates coaching centers, in a cash and stock transaction worth approximately $940 million. Post-acquisition, Think & Learn held a 43% stake, while Raveendran owned 27% of the company. The remaining stake in AESL is held by founder Chaudhry’s family, maintaining about 18%, and Blackstone holding the remaining 12%.

Despite the challenges, Aakash Educational Services remains optimistic about its future prospects. The company is projecting a remarkable three-fold growth, with expected revenue of Rs 3,000 crore for the financial year 2023, compared to pre-acquisition figures. Buoyed by this promising performance, AESL is also contemplating the possibility of going public with an initial public offering (IPO) to further fuel its expansion and development.
