14 March 2022, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; The Flight Centre Travel Group (FLT) has reinforced its commitment to providing customers with the widest choice of airfares by increasing its investment in travel technology business TPConnects Technologies (TPC).

The company has increased its equity interest in the Dubai-based Software as a Service (SaaS) business, which aims to shape the future of travel distribution and has been at the forefront of ongoing changes to traditional distribution models, from 22.5% to 70%.

FLT initially invested in TPC in February 2020 with a view to supercharging the development of TPC’s innovative technology platform, which aggregates content from multiple sources including:

  • Global distribution systems (GDSs), which airlines traditionally utilised to distribute air content
  • Low-cost carriers (LCCs)
  • Emerging supplier-direct channels, specifically airlines’ New Distribution Capability (NDC) offerings; and
  • Other third-party NDC aggregators

TPC has a proven track record in NDC and provides a centralised NDC Gateway which services customers in both the aviation and travel agency sectors.

The business offers travel agents a range of solutions to access aggregated air content via the TPC Universal API (application programming interface), which can be directly integrated into any user interface, or via agency business-to-business (B2B) platforms such as the NDC marketplace portal.

TPC was established in 2012 by Rajendran Vellapalath and Praveen Kumar, who both maintain an ongoing involvement in the business and will become part of the new TPC board. In addition to the TPC board, Mr Vellapalath will be involved in Kerala Pravasi Association, a non-government organisation (NGO) led by the expatriate community-based in India, and a new Social Media application.

The business has a proven track record in developing NDC solutions for airlines and aggregating these for travel sellers and has been recognised globally by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as both an IT Provider and Aggregator. FLT’s involvement in TPC allowed the company to become the first global travel management company to receive IATA Level 4 certification, the highest level available at the time (achieved in 2020).

“FLT’s investment comes at an important time, given the rapid changes that are taking place in the distribution of air content and with the development of the Airline Retailing Maturity Index, which IATA is now pioneering,” Mr. Vellapalath said,

“This is one of the biggest industry disruptions in recent years, with NDC and IATA’s new ONE Order customer record system at its core.

“The strong relationship between TPC and FLT will ensure that both companies remain at the forefront of this ongoing change and play a lead role in the future evolution of distribution.”

For airline customers, TPC offers advanced NDC solutions via its middleware offer and order management services. TPConnects airline customers include Singapore Airlines, Oman Air, Gulf Air, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Eastern Airlines, SriLankan Airlines, Air Cairo, Egypt Air, SaudiGulf Airlines, and Air Mauritius.

“The traditional airline distribution model is being disrupted, with growth in direct connections between buyers and sellers, the proliferation of new commercial models, the rise of new entrant technology providers and continued enhancements in connectivity,” FLT’s leisure and supply chief executive officer Melanie Waters-Ryan said.

“Within this ever-changing distribution landscape, we have taken proactive steps to complement our GDS partnerships and ensure we can source and deliver the best content to our leisure and corporate customers globally by investing in TPC.

“TPC has been at the heart of the evolution in airfare distribution during the past decade, is now engrained in our business, and is integral to the new operating systems and platforms we are delivering in both the leisure and corporate sectors.

“By investing further in the business, we have greater influence over future developments and the product’s ongoing evolution, while ensuring we continue to deliver the widest choice of airfares to our customers.

Other potential commercial benefits to FLT include:

  • Lower costs – the ability to cost-effectively access and book a broad range of NDC content via TPC and avoid the surcharges that some airlines are now applying to bookings made via GDSs. FLT can also access TPC content at a lower rate than it pays to aggregation competitors
  • Margin improvement, through access to TPC’s margin management tools and ability to control decisions relating to where air content is sourced from
  • Access to NDC-related incentives that airlines are increasingly offering to their travel agency partners
  • Enhanced ability to offer and distribute exclusive private fares for airlines; and
  • Access to new revenue streams through TPC’s offerings to airlines and other travel agency groups

Sony Music Labels Inc. new virtual space ‘ReVers3:x’ (read as reverse cross) is live now! This is a space where people can enjoy watching short live videos of their favorite artists’ performances. Popular Rapper KEIJU’s performance was the very first live show on this project and has also been released on YouTube.

This project is hosted in a virtual space specially created by Sony Music Labels Inc. using Sony’s latest technology, also in cooperation with other Sony group companies. People can enjoy watching various artists’ short live performances in a virtual space. KEIJU’s performance stage was set on the streets of Tokyo, all of which were created virtually.

This space was originally produced with the cooperation of MomentTokyo, REZ & and huez, who is known for XRLIVE productions. Inside this space there are artworks created by digital artists from OFBYFOR TOKYO which many young cutting-edge creators are a part of. The teaser which was released at the time of the announcement of the launch of this project, has gained more than 300,000 views. With great expectations, finally the entire project was revealed.

KEIJU performed 3 trendy songs, ‘Falling’, ‘Tears’ and ‘In My Eyez’. The audience was left awestruck with the experience of entering an actual video game space. The stage was surrounded with special effects of falling cherry blossom petals in sync with the songs. They also experienced driving through the city in this virtual space together with this song. The live show was shot at Sony’s volumetric shooting studio ‘Volumetric Capture Studio Tokyo’. Sony’s volumetric technology is one of the highest qualities in the world. MomentTokyo created the virtual space with Volumetric capture technology using Sony’s 4K camera equipment and UNREAL ENGINE.

Team VJ and REZ, who both have been active in major festivals, took part in lighting and visual directing as a VJ. With their skill and effort, the quality of the live show was on a whole new level compared to the usual virtual music performances. Their amazing visual direction was possible due to this unique virtual environment which is very different from live streaming performances from an actual venue.

The project ReVers3:x is planning to have more XR live shows, mainly with more HIP HOP artists in a random schedule for the 1st season from March 2022. Its aim is to be a cross-cultural spot and is going to release all sorts of entertainment in a virtual space. Please look out for Volume 2.

NOTE: The volumetric technology is used for making 3D movies where people can see from any direction with high resolution. The people and space are shot by dozens of cameras which are all set around the entire studio and then converted to digital data. With this volumetric technology we can capture the real world as it is and can show angles where normally cameras don’t exist and when put together with computer graphics, new creative visual expression is possible.

KEIJU is a member of the HIP HOP crew called ‘KANDYTOWN’ with 16 members that include a rapper, track maker, DJ and movie director all living in Tokyo and know each other since childhood. They are active in various fields spreading from music and KEIJU stands out in the crew with his strong individuality, a mellow voice as a rapper, and very photogenic looks.

He performed as a rapper for “LONELY NIGHTS feat.YOUNG JUJU” by tofubeats, “Remember feat.YOUNG JUJU” by Awitch and “Drippin feat.IO & YOUNG JUJU” by Shota Shimizu in 2017. His performance has been amazing, and we can call him the king of guest performances in the Japanese HIP HOP scene. He started working as a solo artist and made a contract with a major label, Sony Music Labels Inc. He is the first artist from KANDYTOWN who signed a major deal. He changed his artist’s name to KEIJU and he released his first single “Let Me Know” from Sony Music Labels in 2018.

He released a song “Summertime” in collaboration with the singer RIRI. This song was a commercial song for the SHISEIDO sunscreen line ‘ANESSA’ which was created under the producer Nariaki Obukuro in April 2019.

When the commercial got exposed around Asia, his presence left Japan as he performed this song in Taipei for the first time with the Taiwanese singer Julia Wu who released the remixed version of this song in September that year.

In July 2020 he released his first major album “T.A.T.O.” and ranked 4th on the Apple Music album chart.

His main works include providing graphics to famous artists including Fetty Wap, Post Malone, and Flying Lotus. He also made an album cover for US rapper Nicki Minaj. Tripura’s Bikram Sutradhar has been awarded the title of ‘Grand Master’ for recalling the values of the square root of two up to 325 digits in 57 seconds and 68 milliseconds, as confirmed on January 7, 2022, for the Asia Book of Records.

Bikram recalled the values of the square root of two up to 325 digits in 57 seconds and 68 milliseconds, as confirmed on December 31, 2021, by the India Book of Records.

The World Record of “YOUNGEST TO RECITE MAXIMUM SQUARE ROOTS” was achieved by Bikram SUTRADHAR on December 30th, 2021, from Agartala (Tripura) India. 27 years 1 month 21 days old Bikram Sutradhar became the youngest person to recite square roots from 2 to 384 digits. This is also a new world record for the International Book of Records.

In 2017, he cracked the IIT JAM MS exam with an AIR of 392 ranked. Recently, he worked with a number system. He always thinks about creativity. “Not only studies, I also admire sports, karate, acting, and reading,” says Bikram.

During school life, I faced various kinds of problems. “I don’t belong to a very rich family. My father had to leave this job due to a health issue at the time. At the time, I faced the prospect of having to discontinue my studies due to financial and mental constraints. My school teacher, Nita Das, assisted me in continuing my studies.” says Bikram.

In 2013, he developed a passion for mathematics. Studying mathematics, he came across the studies of Srinivasan Ramanujan and he was highly motivated by Shri Ramanujan’s work.

Bikram is also helping students from poor families in education and assisting them in procuring scholarships or grants.

“I am always willing to help poor families who cannot afford to send their children to school.”, says Bikram.

Bikram’s achievement and inclusion in the International Book of Records is a source of inspiration to young students from Tripura and the entire country, it is a true story of how a boy from humble background chose to rise above the circumstances.

“My mother, Mrs. Uma Sutradhar, and father, Mr. Dhirendra Sutradhar, have always supported me in every way possible and I am able to inspire others thanks to their guidance and support”, says Bikram.

Union Minister of Tourism, Culture and DONER, Shri G. Kishan Reddy today launched the E-marketplace platform in an event organised at the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management(IITTM), Gwalior. Ministry of Tourism launched the digital platform (E-Marketplace) as part of a digital tourism solution for IITFs / IITGs, to provide Web and Mobile App based interaction mechanism, which is to be used by the tourists and certified tourist facilitators/Tourist Guides. E-Marketplace Portal under the IITFC/IITG program of the Ministry would be more like the platforms of OLA, UBER etc., which would help IITFs/IITGs to get business opportunities and would work as a bridge between the customer and the service provider. Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar (virtually) Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia (virtually), Minister of State of Tourism & Defence, Shri Ajay Bhatt, Member Parliament, Gwalior, Shri Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, Smt. Usha Thakur (Virtually)  also graced the event.

During his address, Shri G Kishan Reddy said that India has a great variety of tourism destinations and tourism has immense potential in generating employment and business opportunities. Shri Reddy added that Students at IITTM have several avenues in the tourism sector and I am sure you will play a critical role in the growth of the tourism sector in the country. Under the guidance and leadership of Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi Ji, VIKAS is our only mantra and it is Vikas that will lead us to more tourism opportunities. Our government is working shoulder to shoulder with all states to develop tourism in the country, he added.

Minister of Tourism, Culture, and DONER, Shri G. Kishan Reddy also visited Gwalior Fort along with officials of the Ministry of Tourism and observed the tourist facilities at the monument. Thereafter, a review meeting was held with the officials of the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) under his chairmanship. A detailed presentation was made by Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture), Government of Madhya Pradesh on the progress of various Tourism Infrastructure projects funded by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.A newly built International Executive Guest House at IITTM Gwalior Campus was Inaugurated.

A Coffee table book on the theme Temple Iconography named “Temple Heritage of India” was released, which covers 75 plates on Indian Temples at 75 years of India’s Independence. A letter of intent was awarded to Bird Academy for collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) for soft skill training, for IITFC program participants. More than 3000 participants were handed over with Digital Certificate for completing IITF/ IITG Course.

Keeping in view the significant role of women in shaping the countries’ pride, a 3-day program celebrating the spirit of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ was also launched on International Women’s Day. The event was concluded with the mesmerising cultural performances and a drama on “Ahilya Bai” by the students of IITTM.
