Udaipur (Rajasthan) [India], April 2: Private aviation traffic at Maharana Pratap Airport, Udaipur, has recorded noticeable rise over the past year, reflecting the growing demand for charter services and private aviation, premium leisure travel, and high-profile destination events. The trend mirrors the broader expansion of India’s business aviation and non-scheduled operator (NSOP) segment, particularly across key Tier-2 destinations.

LAS Ground Force’s Udaipur subsidiary, the licensed concessionaire for ground handling services at the airport, has been supporting a significant portion of this growth. The company currently manages a majority share of private aviation movements at the airport, offering customized passenger handling, rapid turnaround coordination, and executive-level ground services designed for business and charter operators.

Industry data indicates that charter movements have increased sharply during peak wedding seasons, festive periods, and large corporate events. Demand has been driven by high-net-worth travelers, corporate groups, and event planners seeking flexible schedules, privacy, and direct connectivity.

A notable shift within the segment is the growing preference for point-to-point charter operations between non-metro cities. Airports such as Udaipur are increasingly being used as primary entry points, reducing reliance on metropolitan hubs and improving travel efficiency for premium travelers.

Udaipur’s positioning as one of India’s leading luxury tourism and destination wedding locations continues to support aviation demand. The city regularly hosts large-scale premium events and international leisure groups, often requiring multiple business jet and charter aircraft movements within short operational windows.

Further capacity improvements are expected with the development of upgraded terminal infrastructure at the airport. The expansion is projected to enhance passenger growth in scheduled services, and improve operational flexibility for both commercial and private aviation.

“Udaipur is emerging as an important hub and a case study for premium leisure and charter travel,” said Humin Burzin Daver, Chairman of LAS Ground Force. “With infrastructure enhancements underway and increasing interest from airline and charter operators, we expect tremendous growth in movements and expanded operational activity at the airport.”

LAS Ground Force expects the upward trend to continue, supported by rising charter demand, expansion of private aircraft fleets, increasing use of direct non-metro connectivity, and the continued strength of luxury tourism and destination events in the region

Agra (Uttar Pradesh) [India], March 30: Most visitors to Agra look up. They behold the Taj Mahal’s luminous white dome and go home carrying photographs and a sense of wonder. Very few look closely enough, at the surface of those walls, at the thousands of semi-precious stones pressed into Makrana marble in patterns so precise they could be woven silk, to ask the question that matters most: Who still knows how to do this?

Arts & Life exists to answer that question.

Founded by the Kalra family in Agra, Arts & Life is both an atelier and an act of cultural stewardship. Born from decades of deep engagement with Indian craftsmanship and the world of cultural tourism, the brand was established with a singular, urgent mission: to ensure that Parchin Kari, the centuries-old marble inlay technique that defines the Taj Mahal’s incomparable beauty, does not disappear from living memory.

“The inspiration came from watching something irreplaceable fade quietly,” the founders have shared. “Marble inlay is one of the most labour-intensive art forms in existence. It demands years of training, extraordinary patience, and a sensibility that cannot be taught in a classroom. When mass production offers easier alternatives, the artisans who carry this knowledge are the ones who pay the price.”

Arts & Life was conceived as the antidote to that slow erasure.

The Art That Built an Icon

Parchin Kari, also known in the Italian tradition as Pietra Dura, is the art of inlaying semi-precious stones into marble with hairline precision. Each stone is individually hand-cut and shaped before being set into the surface, a process that can involve thousands of separate pieces for a single composition. The results are breathtaking: intricate floral motifs, geometric arabesques, and naturalistic patterns that seem to glow from within.

The same Makrana marble used by Mughal emperors in the construction of the Taj Mahal forms the foundation of every Arts & Life piece. The stones set into it, lapis lazuli from Afghanistan, malachite, carnelian, jasper, turquoise, mother of pearl, onyx, and agate, are sourced for their quality and cut entirely by hand. There are no shortcuts, no machines, and no substitutions.

A small decorative piece may require several focused days of work. A large tabletop or architectural inlay panel can take weeks, sometimes months. Some of the most intricate commissions have involved thousands of individually cut stone fragments, each fitted into the marble surface with the kind of precision that would make a watchmaker envious.

More Than 350 Families. One Living Tradition.

At the heart of Arts & Life is a network of over 350 artisan families from Agra and its surrounding areas; men and women for whom Parchin Kari is not a profession but a birthright. The craft has moved through their families across generations: learned at a grandfather’s knee, practised through adolescence, refined over a lifetime.

Many of the artisans associated with Arts & Life began their training in their teenage years, apprenticed to senior craftsmen within their own families. Decades later, they bring to each piece an almost meditative level of precision, the ability to cut a sliver of lapis lazuli to exactly the shape demanded by a floral petal, and to set it into marble so seamlessly that the join is invisible to the naked eye. Their work is not merely skilled. It is extraordinary.

Arts & Life acts as a bridge between these artisans and the global audience their work deserves. By commissioning consistent work, providing sustainable livelihoods, and actively telling the story behind every piece, the brand ensures that artisans can practice their craft with dignity rather than abandon it for economic necessity.

The brand also holds itself to an uncompromising ethical standard: Arts & Life operates under a strict zero-tolerance policy toward child labour. Every product is crafted exclusively by trained adult artisans. In an industry where this is not always guaranteed, Arts & Life treats this commitment as foundational, non-negotiable, and proudly public.

A New Language for an Ancient Craft

Arts & Life does not position marble inlay as a relic. It positions it as it has always been, as the highest expression of decorative art, fully capable of speaking to contemporary spaces and modern sensibilities.

The brand’s range spans marble tabletops, wall panels, decorative plates, sculptural objects, jewellery boxes, luxury home decor accents, and bespoke architectural inlay panels; each piece as suited to a design-forward residence in New York or Sydney as to a collector’s cabinet in Delhi. Increasingly, architects and interior designers working on luxury residences, heritage hotels, and cultural institutions are turning to Arts & Life for commissions that bring the language of Mughal craftsmanship into twenty-first century spaces.

The clientele reflects this breadth. International travellers discovering Agra’s living craft culture, serious collectors of traditional Indian art, interior designers seeking pieces with genuine provenance and story, and luxury hospitality projects looking for interiors that carry cultural meaning, all find their way to Arts & Life. Notably, the brand’s strongest international following comes from American buyers, followed closely by Australians and Europeans, a testament to the craft’s universal appeal when presented with context and integrity.

An Experience, Not Just a Destination

Arts & Life’s showroom and experience centre, located on Fatehabad Road in Agra, offers something increasingly rare in a world of curated online retail: the chance to witness the making of something extraordinary.

Visitors are invited to observe live demonstrations of Parchin Kari craftsmanship, watching artisans hand-cut and set semi-precious stones in real time. The experience is designed to make the invisible visible, to allow collectors, travellers, and design professionals to understand not just what they are looking at, but what it cost in time, skill, and human devotion to bring it into being.

In doing so, Arts & Life extends the story of Agra beyond the Taj Mahal’s gates. The monument is an achievement of the past. The workshops of Agra, and the families within them, are its living continuation. Arts & Life is where that continuation becomes accessible to the world.

A Philosophy Built to Last

Arts & Life stands on three commitments that the Kalra family considers inseparable: authenticity, respect for craftsmanship, and the preservation of cultural heritage.

These are not marketing principles. They are the operating logic of everything the brand does, from the sourcing of Makrana marble to the relationships maintained with artisan families across generations, from the zero-tolerance stance on child labor to the deliberate choice to present each piece not merely as a beautiful object but as a carrier of history.

“We want the person who brings one of our pieces home, whether they are a collector in London or a first-time visitor to Agra, to understand what they are holding,” the founders have said. “They are holding centuries of knowledge, passed from hand to hand, kept alive by families who chose craft over convenience. That is what makes it irreplaceable.”

In a world increasingly drawn to the handmade, the authentic, and the historically rooted, Arts & Life offers something that cannot be replicated by algorithm or factory: the living art of the Taj Mahal, made by the people who are its true heirs.

About Arts & Life

Founded by the Kalra family, the brand works with over 350 artisan families to create handcrafted marble inlay pieces using Makrana marble and semi-precious stones. Arts & Life serves international collectors, interior designers, architects, and cultural travellers, with a commitment to ethical craftsmanship, artisan welfare, and the preservation of India’s living craft heritage. New Delhi [India], March 30: FICCI FLO Mumbai, in partnership with MatchBoard LLP, hosted the MatchBoard Directors Summit & WoMen Who Lead Awards 2026, convening a powerful cross-section of India Inc. – corporate leaders, startup founders, regulators, investors, social entrepreneurs, and independent directors – with a clear mandate: to accelerate the movement towards conscious, future-ready boards in India.

Conceptualised and co-hosted by Dr. Saagarika Ghoshal, Managing Director, MatchBoard LLP, and Pooja Arambhan, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Mumbai, the Summit moved beyond a one-off convening to shape a sustained national agenda on governance, diversity, digital oversight, and ethical.

The evening opened with a powerful thematic film anchored in a simple but transformative message: “Boards are not just custodians of capital,They are custodians of conscience.”

Taking the podium, Pooja Arambhan called for a fundamental reset in how Indian boards are composed, how they operate, and what they stand for.

“We are here to rethink who gets to sit at the table, how they show up, and what they choose to stand for,” she said. “You cannot build the India of tomorrow with boards stuck in yesterday.”

She emphasised the urgency of preparing women and professionals from diverse backgrounds for both independent and executive board roles, and of embedding purpose, ESG, and stakeholder stewardship as central planks of governance.

Building on this, Dr. Saagarika Ghoshal introduced the Summit’s core theme – “Building the Board of Tomorrow: Talent, Technology, and Trust.” Our ambition is to champion conscious board leadership–leaders who are as fluent in digital risk as they are in human dignity; as serious about stakeholder voices as they are about shareholder returns, she said, pointing to gaps in AI and cybersecurity oversight, under-governed startups, and the lack of structured board pathways for women.

As Chief Guest, Kamala Kantharaj – Chief Regulatory Officer,Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), drew a direct line between board decisions, market integrity, and investor trust.

“Every decision taken in a boardroom leaves an imprint on market integrity and investor trust. You are not just approving strategies. ” She cautioned against underestimating cyber risk, opaque data, and unregulated tech practice. Also adding that Diversity is not a quota. It is a strategic advantage. It sharpens judgment, widens your field of vision, and anchors you when the easiest path is the most dangerous.”

Apurva Purohit CEO Aazol in her compelling key note spoke on Board effectiveness around three core levers: talent, technology, and trust.” Talent that reflects the world outside the boardroom. Technology understood not as wizardry, but as responsibility. And trust–earned, not demanded–through decisions that stand the test of transparency and time,” she said.

As Guests of Honour, Dr. Aneel Murarka(MirachemIndustries) and Dr. Shyam Singhania (Ennarr Group) brought a grounded industrial and entrepreneurial lens for boards that can hold both in creative tension, particularly in moments of ethical trade-offs and economic stress.

Through focused roundtables and sidebar conversations, the Summit placed special emphasis on startups and growth enterprises. In close partnership Pooja Arambhan and Dr. Saagarika Ghoshal outlined a roadmap to:

  • Deepen governance engagement with early- and growth-stage companies
  • Support women founders in accessing capital, markets, and mentorship
  • Create deliberate pathways for entrepreneurs into board, advisory, and policy-shaping roles. “Too often, women founders are seen only as operators, not as future board leaders,” they observed, calling for a systematic reimagining of entrepreneurial and board ecosystems.

The evening then transitioned into the Glittering WoMen Who Lead Awards 2026, celebrating women whose leadership embodies resilience, innovation, and impact. The stage backdrop – Vision. Courage. Conscience.- captured the spirit of the awards.

Moods changed with Leading Violinist Sunita Bhuyan’s captivating performance

The distinguished jury comprised Dr. GP Rao, Harjeet Joshi, Sanjay Banka, Dr. Rajeshwari Narendran, Deepali Nair, along with Pooja Arambhan–leaders in governance and industry, reinforcing the rigour and credibility of the selection process.

The celebrated WoMen Who Lead Awardees are

Padma Shri Kalpana Saroj, Apurva Purohit, Archana Shah ,Nisha JamVwal, Sukanya Bose, Antara Asthana, SunitaBhuyan, Shaonie Maitrra & Kasturi Banerjjee, Dr. Sejal Ajmera, Preeti Sharma, Kiran Singh, Afrida Ali, Poonam Burman, Dr. Sujata Seshadrinathan, Smiti Bhatt Deorah, Humera Shah, Shweta Dhoot, Bhawna Goenka, Amruta Rao, Sanjukta Arun Barik, Dr. Kiran Desai, Alpa Mayur Shah, Dr. Anita Shantaram, Nilima Roy Chowdhury, Priyanka Minda, Smita Magi, Dr. Nandita Shah, Elsie Gabriel, Dr. Sonal Jain Jayaswal, Shefali Khalsa, Varsha Rane, & Rajita Kulkarni.

Collectively, they showcased the breadth of women’s leadership in contemporary India–spanning business, social enterprise, sustainability, media, education, and more.

Two significant research reports were unveiled, developed in collaboration with Ina Shastri Banasthali Vidhyapith and Mona Kwatra Dhira Skilldev Foundation:

“Women-led Growth”- Demonstrating, through Performance without purpose is fragile.

  • Purpose without performance is hollow.

data and case studies, how women leaders drive innovation and performance, while mapping structural barriers that impede their progress.

“Digital Adoption and Governance”- Providing boards with a practical framework to oversee AI, data protection, and digital customer engagement in an ethically grounded, regulation-ready manner.

“These are not coffee-table publications. They are toolkits for change,” the convenors emphasised.

The Summit and Awards were supported by a strong ecosystem of partners, including Senco Gold & Diamonds, Ample Mission, Dhiraa Skilldev Foundation, DBS Bank, iiVHealth Solutions, Jeep, BYD Landmark, PayU Finance, Bigoyaseo Services, Restmor Linens and UNTAM3D.in–reflecting cross-sectoral commitment to advancing conscious board leadership.

Closing the evening, Dr. Saagarika Ghoshal issued a clear call to action:

“This cannot end as an event. It must continue as a movement.”As regulators, entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders, activists, awardees, and aspirants left the venue, a shared conviction emerged: Board leadership, when truly conscious, is not a compliance checkbox. It is a strategic lever for long-term value creation and societal change in a new India – Viksit Bharat.

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh — In a landmark development for ophthalmic care in North India, Dr. Azad Gaurav has successfully performed the first iStent Inject® W procedure in Lucknow and the state of Uttar Pradesh at Prakash Netra Kendra, Lucknow. This milestone introduces a globally recognized, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) to patients in the region, offering a safer and more effective solution for early-stage glaucoma management.

The iStent Inject® W is an advanced micro-invasive implant designed to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP) by improving the eye’s natural fluid outflow. Particularly beneficial for patients with mild to moderate primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), the procedure is performed through a minimally invasive approach, ensuring faster recovery, reduced surgical risk, and improved patient comfort.

This innovative treatment provides patients with the potential to significantly reduce—or even eliminate—their dependence on long-term anti-glaucoma medications, which are often associated with compliance challenges and side effects. Early intervention with iStent technology helps stabilize IOP and plays a critical role in preserving vision and preventing disease progression.

Globally, iStent technology has been widely adopted, with over 3 million implants performed worldwide.

Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Azad Gaurav said:

“The introduction of iStent Inject® W in Lucknow marks a new era in glaucoma management for our region. Early-stage glaucoma patients now have access to a minimally invasive option that not only controls IOP effectively but also reduces their dependence on lifelong medications. Our goal is to preserve vision with the least possible disruption to patients’ daily lives.”

Adding to this, renowned glaucoma specialist Dr. Rajat Dhsai remarked:

“Micro-invasive glaucoma surgery, particularly with technologies like iStent Inject® W, is transforming the way we approach glaucoma treatment. It bridges the gap between medical therapy and conventional surgery, offering a safer and patient-friendly solution for early intervention. The adoption of such advanced technologies in cities like Lucknow is a significant step toward improving glaucoma outcomes across India.”

The first patient treated with this technology at Prakash Netra Kendra has shown encouraging early outcomes, including stable intraocular pressure and reduced reliance on medications, underscoring the effectiveness of the procedure.

The successful introduction of iStent Inject® W at Prakash Netra Kendra reinforces the institution’s commitment to bringing world-class ophthalmic innovations to Uttar Pradesh. It also ensures that patients in Lucknow and surrounding regions can now access advanced glaucoma care without the need to travel to metropolitan centers.
